Is 1.85V safe for the CPU

I've got my 1.2 T-Bird Abit KT7A at 1317MHz @ default volts(1.75) and would love to get 1400MHz but 10x140 won't post. Is it safe to go to 1.85Vs? Sure don't want to fry the 1.2 CPU. I have Corsair Cas2 PC133.

I doubt you will fry the cpu unless your HSF is a real pos and does not work...

Most o/c believe a 15% increase in voltage is safe...going from 1.75 to 1.85v should be no problem...

Also remove the fan from the chipset and put thermal compound or Artic Silver between and reinstall the fan then up the chipset voltage to 3.5 and then up your core voltage and go for it...! 😉

With the increased chipset voltage your might even hit 1.4Ghz without an increase in core voltage... or only a slight increase...?

Provided you have good cooling 1.85V for a T-Bird should be fine. I'd say up to about 1.9V is generally safe for a T-Bird.
