I have a 1.8a that I can get to run nicely at 2.4 ghz.. only thing I have to bump the voltage to 1.7 is that to high for this chip??

No. Your cpu temps will be about 50 celcius (with the Intel heatsink), unless you use the avc sunflower or other premium heatsink.

I have a 1.8a also and have to set it to 1.75 just to get it stable at 2.4 GHz. I haven't had a problem yet and it still runs at 50 degrees Celcius under load with the Intel HSF. My Epox board allows up to 1.85, so I might try 1.8 or so and see how hot it gets and how fast I can get it up too.

Well after playing with it it's not completely stable at 1.7 so I need to up it a few more but the p4b 266 will only let me go to 1.7 atleast in the bios... I haven't looked at the jumper configuration yet...... And when it was runnign at 2.4 and I put it under a load it never moved from 40 C......

Yeah, mine is barely stable at 1.75 volts at 2.4 GHz, so you will probably need more. I have seen others giving it only 1.65 and running just fine at 2.4, but these P4s all seem to be different. You will probably have to do the wire trick to up the voltage more, but I don't know anything about that. The temp thing has something to do with your board, most of those boards don't have working temp modules or maybe its just a bios thing that they will fix later, but it seems to be common.
