Is 1.13GHz from a 1GHz T-Bird good?

I don't know what the overclocking norms are for Athlon CPUs. I just got a 1GHz Athlon T-Bird blue core and an Asus A7Pro. I didn't even bother putting the CPU in the socket before connecting the L1 bridges (way too easy). I used the same Hedgehog that I used on my overclocked P3. Since the A7Pro is the same as the A7V minus the Promise controller, I used the latest A7V BIOS. I got a whole bunch more FSB settings after that, but 103MHz is as stable as I can get to be able to run it all day. I'm using the 11 multiplier with the 103MHz bus and 1.8 volts. It's very stable. When I try 12x100, it doesn't even make it into Windows. 11.5 x 103 seems stable at first, but after an hour or so it locks. It just seems weird getting only a 13% overclock when I had a 57% overclock with the P3. heh I'll play around with it more later.

First crank your volts to 1.875 then set your clock to 10.5 and your front side buss to 110 and she will rock for you.. BTW I never could overclock as well on my a7v as i can on my abit kt7 I dont know why??

110MHz FSB appears good at first, but it will lock up 3D games or give GPFs while browsing the net. I'd like to have a higher FSB. I know my memory can go as high as 160MHz.

Oh yeah ... 110 FSB locks up for me like a b*tch in games. Anyway my Durons are running at 1ghz (10x100) and the other is stuck at 900 (9x100)... if I go higher I can't even load windows on the second chip...dangit! But I guess 1 for 2 ain't so bad.

My Mosel Vitalic will do 13fsb no lock up. did you set your volts to the max????

I have it set to 1.7 volts. Motherboard Monitor is showing 1.77 volts though, so I don't know whats up with that. The IO voltage is set to 3.4 volts.

i'd leave the I/O voltage at default(3.3 i believe) and up the CPU voltage to 1.85. the KT133 north bridge generally isn't stable at or above 110mhz fsb, so i would use the multiplier to get it as i as the chip will go, then use the fsb to tweak it and get as much out of it as you can. also, make sure that your ram speed is set at 133mhz(it can run asynchronously to the bus)

i hope that all made sence :p

Change your voltage to 1.80 in the soft menu and then try the highest mutiplyer possible. You should be able to get an 11.5, ounce you have reached your highest mutiplyer then increase your FSB. 105MHZ will be about all you can get once you have maxed out your chips multiplyer. By the way when you set you volts at 1.80 on an A7V it really is 1.85 as reported by sandra or the power management in the soft menu. Good Luck.

what is the stock voltage on tbirds?

I have a retail 1ghz that runs no problem at 12.5 but when I start upping the fsb I can see problems if I go too high. 110 wouldn't boot without those errors, then I tried 105 got into windows and gamed a bunch without crashes(i have always seen unreal crash when a bad cpu overclock happens). so that was 1313mhz

that was also with 1.775 volts and I picked that for whatever reason. I noticed the temps break the 40's when I did this and tried to go back to 110 with the max voltage setting in bios but it did nothing for me.

now I run at 1250mhz just cause im afraid of fsb overclocking. maybe I shouldn't care? Is 5mhz that big a deal I don't know? I have allot of stuff in my computer so I kind of don't want to screw my functionality although I saw nothing like that while I used it for a while at 1313

so Id say after looking around I got a good chip

damac, you may want to pick up one of the new AMD760 chipset motherboards when the come out, that chip seems like a winner! :) if you can hit that high with less than 1.85V, you may be able to hit 1.4ghz or more ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. As for the RAM speed... that was one of the first things I set. There was no way I would run my HSDRAM at 100MHz. heh
I'll try 1.85V later on and post back my results. I have a Hedgehog, so that should be capable enough to adjust to the added heat.

I got it up to 1144MHz. Thats all she will do for me. It's still a kick arse speed though. I even made a wallpaper for it already. Here it is.. I also have the original image without the clock speed and in BMP format here.

Dude I had the same problem with every duron ive run and every t bird ive run. Even with a peltier they dont want to go that much higer. I've got a duron 650 to 1030 stable. HEDGEHOG was my savior there and a 120 mm fan along with 3 80mm fans silver paste. Sometimes ya win sometimes ya don't. Toomuch fsb overclock will fudge with the counterstike. happy holidays

I've given up on FSB overclocking with the KT133. It's not as easy as the i815 and the 650E I was using prior. All I had to do was set it and forget it with the i815.

I'm currently using the 100 x 11.5 setting with this chip. It's very stable at 1150MHz, so I'm happy. Plus, I can use more than one DIMM slot with the 133MHz memory speed. I'm currently running 256MB of RAM CAS-2. With my i815, it was impossible to use more than one DIMM at 157MHz.
