What is this... "cheque" .. you speak of?Originally posted by: Skoorb
A lot of people have a sad and unfounded fear of big brother. This is the sort of thing that motivates people to not use direct deposit, and to not wear a seatbelt, simply as an act of rebellion. Others are just ignorant. A guy at work - with a bank account - years into working for us still takes cheques. WTF is wrong with him? He also has THOUSANDS of dollars in a savings account. Helllooooo? Investment - ever hear that word? He's from India so I guess he's got a different financial outlook on things.
Then they'd have the money for less time, and more people doing rebates, and suddenly we'd have no more rebates!Originally posted by: loki8481
I pretty much assume that the government already knows everything there is to know about me already.
I've been getting refund checks via direct deposite for a few years now. what would *really* rock was if companies started offering rebates/refunds via direct deposite... no more sitting around waiting for 2-3 months for that $15 rebate.

REad the verbage on Direct Deposit. You are giving them direct access to your checking account, so they can deposit or take out as much as they want.
Do you really trust govenrment employees with your checking account?
