Just had this message left on my phone. Love how they are telling you to contact them now because they're about to file an arrest warrant, without ever stating any personally identifying info.

So, my wife got the "IRS has a warrant out for your arrest" (my arrest, actually) call this morning on our landline. Guy had a thick Indian accent. She knew this was a scam, but strung them along for a while. They never would give her details. Just kept saying they wanted to help her before I went to jail.

She finally asked to speak with someone who spoke English. Guy hung up on her. lol.

I just got this message today. Must have found out I only gave 37 shirts to the Salvation Army on my deduction instead of 40.

I asked for her name and reason for calling and or is this a business call.
She refused to ID herself or anything else. Then I changed my tone and I say - Hi scammer! How are you today scammer and she did not say anything and just hung up.

I've gotten these calls before and just block them on my computer that handles calls with Phone Tray. Pisses me off that these fuckers have the balls to say shit like that and the thing is they more than likely spoofed the caller ID data. I think the phone company can put a trace on this if it becomes a problem and let ol' ANI do her magic.

looks like a cool program. but i dont have a modem anymore. is there any stand alone device that can do this?

The irs really doesn't issue warrants for you.
What they do is get a judge to sign off on seizing your assets.
Keep fighting them like Wesley Snipes, the click of the handcuffs will be your next indicator.

I got one of these calls from someone claiming to be from the DOJ, and that there was a warrant out for my arrest. He had a very thick accent and it was clear he was trying to read from some script. I just laughed at him and said "Dude, I already know about this stupid scam. Piss off." Then hung up on him.

Haven't had another call from them.

I just don't see how anyone could fall for this unless they simply don't ever pay remotely any attention to their taxes, or file....

The IRS isn't like those other whiny ass departments, they have their own standing army. If they want you, you'll know by the click of the handcuffs.

But first will come the swoosh of all your money being sucked out of your bank accounts and that empty feeling when the boss tells your paycheck has been levied.

Tell them you don't trust online banking or banks in general and therefor can only pay in cash. Ask for an address, and then pass that on to the IRS. Or, if it's nearby, drop by to firebomb it.

We were getting a series of these calls on our OOMA line a few weeks ago, but it claimed a lawsuit was about to go to the sheriff. Robotic voice, called several times a day. Call was out of Washington, DC.

Google it, it's a scam-more realistic sounding than most at least to me. After I complained in writing to their phone provider the calls stopped immediately.

:D

"Oh wait....hang on, stop. This person here doesn't want to be called. We'd better not."

Now, if Congress would give the people who enforce the DNC List the authority to employ bounty hunters, then maybe that scenario would indeed play out.

I vote for having "Judges" such as Dredd, going after the violators.

Google the phone numbers, they're known scams. I have two of their numbers in my phone as "scam"

Ok, let's think about this logically for a moment. Would the IRS:

1. Call you on your cell phone?
2. Never mention your name when calling?
3. Tell you over the phone to send them money?
4. Be some guy who barely speaks English and is "kindly asking" you to "do the needful?"

Uh, no. Would the IRS even call you to begin with? Probably not. If you were in trouble, you'd be getting certified mail or a visit from an IRS agent.

This is why I am shocked people fall for these kinds of things. The first time I heard it, I had to replay it and even then, still couldn't understand everything the tool said. So I just laughed and hoped I would answer it the next time so I could rip him a new one.

EDIT: Here is what the IRS says, which echoes what I said above:

He posts nutty ass, tinfoil-esque shit like that all the time man. :awe:

Try calling the IRS FOR ANY REASON...
You hear "Due to extremely high call volume, we can not take you call. Try later.".
So, I don't think the IRS could or would or has the time to arrest or go after anyone, even if Obama ordered them to do so himself. ;)
Seriously, the IRS is totally overwhelmed with just the basic every day stuff, and it would be a true heavenly miracle if they found the time for anything. Especially going after some dead beat tax dodger.
It the IRS can't even find time to answer the phone, sounds like everyone is fairly safe, to me.
Staff has been cut to the bone. Recent tax law changes have their heads spinning.
One might believe the IRS is some big bad monster coming after them, but in reality the IRS is doesn't know their left hand from their right hand.

The one thing the current state of the IRS does do efficiently, is prove the claim government agencies are totally dysfunctional. And for those opposed to any type of government healthcare, proves that could indeed be a disaster in the making.

The IRS is silly, and they fear you (calling them) more then you should fear them (calling YOU.) :)
