hello.

i have been getting this error on and off when i restart my computer lately:

the following error occurred while loading protocol number 0: error 59: a network error has occured.

but even if i get this error, i have no problems surfing the net, irc or icq. basically i experience no network problems.

however it is really irritating to have such errors bug you during startup.

anyone has any idea what this is about?

thanks!

Assuming you have win 2k. Please post more info, but check out your Event Viewer and see what it says under system and also applications.

Right click on my computer and select manage. Expand event viewer and then select one of the two I mentioned. Tell us what you see.

hmm..any other solutions than reinstalling? the thing that puzzles me is that it happens only some times and not all the time. could it be something wrong with my network and not my computer?

Re-installing the network protocols may do the trick, or try finding an updated set of drivers for the NIC.

If it is a Linksys then you might want to just uninstall the card and reinstall it. We had trouble with 2 Linksys cards at a friends house and had to do this many times. I think he was able to get new drivers and it seemed to solve the problem
