From what I understand it is caused by 2 pieces of hardware trying to write to the same memory address at the same time. You can correct this problem by making sure none of your hardware shares irq addresses. This might fix it, but I doubt it.
This is my story...
I only get that error when I'm maxing out my bandwidth (irc...). So I look at my IRQ's and see that my network card is on the same irq as my video card. I move my NIC and I get it to share an IRQ with my USB. The BSODs were less frequent. Then a couple of months later they happen again, with greater frequency. So I move some more hardware around and finally get everything to be on seperate IRQs. That didn't work. I did a fresh XP install and the samething! I bought a new NIC card and the SAME thing still happens.
I'm guessing something is physically wrong now. I'm planning on taking everything apart and cleaning out any dust on the contacts. Which probably won't help..
I tell you, I've been struggling with this IRQL BSOD for 6 months now...
Too poor to invest in a new system, but I can't pinpoint the problem.
