Simple question...or not, is it normal that my Videon card ans Sound card are on the same IRQ number? They're both on IRQ 16.

If it's not normal, how do I change it?

Thanks in advance.

Is everything working properly? If so, why would you want to change it? Assuming you're running a PnP OS, there shouldn't be any conflicts with the two on the same IRQ.

Usually, the only time you'd have to mess with changing the IRQ is if there is a conflict and somethings not working properly. Its not like "back in the old days" when the user had to manually assign the IRQs.

Everything is working minus the fact that I too suffre from the Lock ups and Freezes others have. I've done everything in my power to solve this (drivers update, formating, clean case, read those forums for clues, etc...)

It's generally not a great idea to have the sound and video share the same IRQ. But if it's working then there's not a lot of reason to change. If it's not working all you have to do is move the sound card to a different pci slot.

Yes, do what ValuedCustomer said. Move the sound card over one slot, if that slot is empty. Adjacent slots share IRQ's.

Edit: Also, when you reboot, go into the BIOS and force an ESD update.

You have an Asus mainboard, consult the manual for the IRQ sharing table they ALWAYS include. You should NEVER have the VGA IRQ shared with ANYTHING or you'll experience freezes/lockups. The Asus manual will show you what slot is shared with what specific devices/slots. Also, make sure your onboard sound is DISABLED in BIOS.

I have had my videocard on the same IRQ as my soundcard for over 2 months and this goes for both my rigs and I have had no issues at all, atleast lock-ups or freezes.

What do you guys think....

On my second rig, my first videocard is on the same IRQ as my soundcard. My second videocard is on the same IRQ as my OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller. I haven't had any issues or conflicts. Now my question is, on both my rigs its the same. Should i be worried about this or no?

You guys got me kind of worried now....

Don't be worried if everything is working properly and you don't have any freezes or other bizzard behavior. Most modern hardware will share IRQ's quite well, but some does not and that's where problems start.
