IRQ Settings in Win2k - common for several card?

The diagnostics that I have, showed me that my Modem, 2 USB ports, Video Card, and SBLiveV are all on IRQ 11, does this make a signifcant difference with Win2k? I'm used to Win95, and know everything had to have it's own setting.

If I do need to change the IRQ, how can I configure Win2k (non-networked - single user) to allow me to set them? I've looked through the device managers and hardware profiles aren't editable yet - how do I change that?

Also - where in Win2k can I enable UDMA 100 for my HDD? I think it's disabled, and my BIOS is just fine.

Documentation-
Win2k, Abit KT7A (non-raid), Micron 256 PC-133, 9x 133 on an AMD 1.2 AXIA chip, Creative BCD48SB CD-Rom (internal), Vodoo3, SBLive!Val, Hayes Accura 56k internal, MicroSolutions External Backpack 8x8x20 CDRW, and last but not least - Maxtor 30GB UDMA/ATA 100 HDD on drive C.

It's standard for all your PCI devices (including USB ports) to share a single IRQ. Some people claims it hurts performance, but it performs fine for me, I think they are just used to Win 4.x (9x) where sharing was bad. You can change it, but it's a fairly involved process. I think it requires a re-install of Win2k as well.

For ATA100 go into Device Manager and properties of the IDE controller (not the properties of the hard drive like in Win9x)

There's no problem at all, Win 2000 can handle multiple devices on one IRQ.

This behavior comes from ACPI, the new feature in WIN2K. This means you cannot change the IRQs. They are set to one, in your case it is IRQ11. All of the components should work. Just go check the Device Manager and see if there are no "!", if not everything is hunky doory.

Windows 2000 is designed to use enhanced power management and Plug and Play capabilities for Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) computers. The PCI steering enables devices to "share" IRQ settings, otherwise W2K would quickly run out of available interrupts. Thus, multiple devices on one IRQ is normal and usually does not cause a problem (I have devices sharing IRQs 5 and 11).

Hope this has shed some light on the situation.

Sharing the same irq in win2k sometime does causes problem for some people, this problem is usually assoicated with the Geforce, and there is way to change it, but just kinda compicated, if u want to know how to change it, just go www.geforcefaq.com and do a search on IRQ , then it will tell u how to change the IRQ in win2k.
