Hi i was wodering where can i find what compnentes in my computer corrispond to what IRQ number? Also how do I change what IRQ a component uses so everythign plays friendly in my computer?

I have an Epox 8k7A with the following components statring with teh APG slot:

Voodoo3 3500 TV
Empty
Empty
Herc. Game Theatre XP
Empty
3com 10/100 NIC Card
Firewire Card (unknown brand came with Digi camcorder)

What would be the best IRQ's for these things to play nicely together and how do i change htt IRQs to hake it happen?

Thanks!

Right click on my computer, select properties, go to the second tab I believe, select computer, hit properties and that should give you a list of irq's. If you are using win2k they should all be on the same irq because software solutions to 20 year old problems are better than bringing the hardware up to date.

Thanks. I've been getting random lock ups sill wiht my newly built computer i was thinking maybe it was an IRQ conflict causing this. Can anybody tell me if it could be or not? Here is what each IRQ does:

00 System Timer
01 Keyboard
02 Programmable Interrupt controller
03 Com2
03 Herc. Game Thetre XP Game Device
04 Com 1
05 ACPI IRQ holder for PCI IRQ steering
05 TI OHCI IEEE 1394 Host Controlloer
06 Floppy
07 ECP Printer port
08 CMOS/real time clock
09 SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus
10 ACPI IRQ holder for PCI IRQ steering
10 3dfx Voodoo3
11 ACPI IRQ holder for PCI IRQ steering
11 3com Etherlink 10/100 TX NIC 3C905B-TX
11 Herc Game Theater XP PCI audio Accelerator
12 PS/2 Mouse Port
13 Numeric Data Processor
14 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller
14 Primary IDE controller (Dual fifo)
15 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller
15 Secondary IDE controller (Dual fifo)

does any of this look like if could cause a confilct that would make my computer randomly lock-up after being off all night long?

Thanks

the ethernet card and sound card are sharing irq 11. that might cause problems. in general, some devices can share irq's, but video cards, ethernet cards, and sound cards seem to be the most picky about sharing. try re-arranging the pci cards and see if they are assigned different irq's. in the bios you can also disable stuff you don't need (like serial ports and stuff) to free up some irq's
