Hi,

My internet connection at university is not working now...the tech guy would like me to verify that my modem is really working.

The modem seems to work because i can dial without problem and the problem only occur when the connection is establish. In fact, at that specific moment, I have an error message telling that I was disconnect by the server....

The only thing I could imagine is that my modem dont use the good IRQ (of course for now i suppose that my internet server is OK).

So, how can u see in WinNT40 what IRQ are used and by what ?

I ask this because I know how to change the IRQ of my modem both in bios and in WinNT40 but i done know what to take !

BTW, its a ISA modem and in my bios it seems that no ISA can use IRQ.....

Anyone can help ?

Thank you

Disable 1 of your COM ports to free up an IRQ, and try to force your modem to use that IQQ.

If its possible too, try to move your modem to another ISA slot.

[edit]You can also disable your UDMA 66 and UDMA 33 IDE ports. this should free up IRQ 14, 15 and what ever your ATA66 controller is using.

The problem about disabling a COM port is that i dont know wich IRQ it use...or i dont know where to look. In fact, in the place where you can change the IRQ for a COM it doesnt say what IRQ is used....

I dont have any other ISA slot...CUBX come with 1ISA 6 PCI 1 AGP.

Because i dont use any IDE drive I can disable both IDE controller...so I will be able to use IRQ 14 I guess...

I will try this later this week because I wont be at university before friday....

Thanks for the help Stefan.

And I hope this will resolve my problem....because if not then i will have to talk with the tech guy....
