As a fellow gamer, I find that mildly amusing 😀. (I'll admit, I laughed to myself when I read this.)Originally posted by: fuzzy bee
I saw a little irony in NCAA2004 tonight: while the referee was announcing a "clipping" call, a player literally ran right through him. Who's the one that's clipping here, mister?
If you see that happen and have time, take control of him and move him back to your side of the line of scrimmage, without touching any offensive players. If you manage to do it, you won't get called. I've done it.Originally posted by: Saulbadguy
NCAA 2004 is kinda buggy..has anyone ever had their D line run past the line of scrimmage before anything happens and just stands there, and then you get called offsides?

Yeah, there are a lot of little bugs in it. One of my peeves with the game has to do with the announcers - if you recover a fumble close to the opponent's goal line, it will often announce that you had a humongous return (like 90 yards or so.
It seems they could have squashed a lot of these out with good playtesting. Guess they were more concerned about Madden.

Well, me too. But it's almost always a DT that jumps the gun in the bug. I always play the D line anyway, so it's just a matter of switching one or two players and then running around the line. I take the game seriously (gotta keep my 50-something game winning streak alive, ya know 🙂 ), so I always try to get him back so he doesn't get flagged.Originally posted by: Saulbadguy
I'm too busy laughing to do this.

I run the option some. My quarterback with the best arm strength and accuracy isn't fast enough to run the option effectively and the one that can run the option isn't quite as accurate as the other guy. I've got a speedy back, though, so I usually run counters to the strong side and he breaks open for huge gains.
I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to slow my roommate down. He's playing as Mizzou and I'm Nebraska. He's got Brad Smith so he runs like crazy, but when he does drop back to pass, he takes three steps, checks, and then takes off running like a draw. I'm thinking it's really worth a shot at putting a strong safety in as my middle linebacker and running the QB spy defense all game.

Yeah, I intend to. My QB situation is actually at Clemson. I guess I forgot to clarify that. Oops. Hehe. I've got a sixth or seventh year dynasty at Clemson and a joint dynasty at Nebraska. It's too bad Jammal Lord is a senior because he's just about as good at the option as Brad Smith is. I just hope my roommate doesn't take the time to notice the vulnerabilities in my secondary. I've been getting shredded to pieces all season by teams like SMU and Troy State. If I can't get my 250+ yards/game running game going, though, I'm doomed because Nebraska just isn't a passing team. I intend to rectify that coming recruiting, though.Originally posted by: SuperCommando
You got Jamal Lord! do the same thing to him.

The "cheap" way to get your running game on track is to get your speediest guy, usually a WR, and put him in at QB on the formation subs for option plays. When you go into passing formations, your regular QB will be in, but in option formations, your WR will be in. "Fast" QBs in the game, like Marcus Vick have like 85 speed. You put in a reciever with 95 speed or so, and he will just blow by everyone so fast you wont believe it. I play as Texas, and in my Dynasty I had Vince Young and Chance Mock both go down. Norgdren couldnt run the option for anything, so I picked out Sloan Thomas to run it, since he had speed. THe first play I went 65 yards for a score. I average about 40 a carry with a WR in at QB on the option. Me and my roommate now have an understanding that anyone at QB like that is illegal in our apt and eternally banished, unless we invite someone clueless over and paste them.
Ditto. That's happened at our apartment a few times, too. My roommate who plays Mizzou in our 3-person dynasty plays as Virginia Tech uses Marcus Vick as his starter and has Bryan Randle as his backup. Makes perfect sense, too. I'd do the same thing. He takes off running in a heartbeat and has injured both Vick and Randle in the same game and brings in DeAngelo Hall and runs the option with him. It might be worth it to try that tonight against Mizzou, but Jammal Lord is pretty capable of running the option. We'll have to see how it goes. This game is make-or-break for me. I lost a heartbreaker to Oklahoma State to start the season (that's who the other roommate is). I need to get this win against Mizzou to stay in the running for the Big XII North but I also can't afford to have two losses.Originally posted by: HendrixFan
