Ironing question

I tried to iron a shirt today.

The iron started making a buzzing noise and blue flames started shooting out between the plastic and the metal sole. Then my power went out.

Is this a sign that I am doing something wrong?

blue flames are ok. when they're green, then it's time to worry. make sure you check your labels first though; some shirts you're not supposed to iron then you've ruined a perfectly good shirt.

The shirt was fine. I was able to finish ironing it in the dark.

"Strike while the iron is hot" and all that.

All I know about ironing is that it is delicious.

Maybe the flames were a turbo heat function and the power outage was coincidence. 😛
Did all your power go out or just that circuit?

That's true, chlorine burns green, and that can make some nasty stuff.
