Ironic how I can hate winter and yet love snow...

Sure, you might be able to make it through winter with all seasons or RWD and snow tires - meanwhile, I will be having way too much fun. 😀

It'd be nice to have even more, but I think this is the most snow we've got at once this year.

I shoveled the area immediately in front of the garage so the plow could take the rest:

Then I found some parking lots. 😀

To give an idea of how much of a tank AWD + snows can be, here's a brief video of me pulling out of where that last photo was taken. No fuss, no drama.

It's a good day. 🙂

+1 for snow fun. I remember there was a vid on CNN a few years ago where the announcer was talking about how people were destroying their cars in the snow and it was a bunch of STis and EVOs sliding around.

Cant even spin the tires in snow, that's just pathetic. Next you'll be posting a vid of a burnout with the car on jackstands! :awe:

They tend plow too quickly in the Chicago burbs to get to enjoy it, but some side streets stay messy. I drive a 16-year old Saturn for which I have little concern...been giving my e-brake quite a workout the past couple snowfalls. 😀

I did the same thing down here in this latest storm. Guys in trucks not making it places, while me in my rumbling little car just moseyed on past them 😎. Only bad part is when you hit ice and then it doesn't matter what you drive, no studs = scary moments. Always fun to get out of my complex cause the hill after the stop sign always throws the rear end out, this time I was prepared for it and did a nice drift up the street to a decent audience 😛

My towncar is totally worthless in the snow. Last year, in the gravel lot behind my apartment, one of my rears was in a very slight depression that happened to have ice in it (I parked it when it was dry, how the ice formed I have no idea), and the car would go nowhere. I finally rocked it out of the spot, but it took forever.

My roommates 5.0 AWD explorer with knobby tires is great, though, even though it won't hold a charge for more than 5 minutes in this cold. This is what god made portable jumpstarters for.

RWD and a locker works wonders as well. I've haven't fixed the 4wd on my truck in about 4yrs as I can go just about anywhere locked.

I don't know how people drive FWD cars around in the winter, I now understand why they drive so slow though.

Driving slowly isn't so much about the car being the problem, it's more the driver.

FWD and about 6" ground clearance, no problems here.

FWD car here too... I got about 20 yards through the 16" of snow we got last night with my FWD car and my girlfriends FWD car, had to move them for the plow guy. Done many mountain passes in CO with FWD cars, and never gotten stuck around New England with one. Limited slip differentials FTW.

I've got a rusty (rear suspension mounts collapsing rusty) Isuzu Trooper II (first generation). It has minor dry rot on some generic M+S rated tires.

Absolutely unstoppable. When the Twin Cities had that large blizzard that dropped ~18", I was pulling cars through the mess to get them to my friend's wedding. I think the high ground clearance and good 4x4 really helped me survive and pull through that day.
