Iron Sites

Do you use iron sites on FPS games?

  • Only use iron sites on everything!

  • Only on secondary weapons (pistols, etc.)

  • Never! I always depend on opticals.

Playing COD:Arcade (ahem, BO3) and unlike my contemporaries, I use iron sites exclusively. I like challenging myself in an adapt or die scenario. I think I can say I am adapting well to only using iron sites, but what about you folks?

Being a shooter in real life gives me an understanding. You want every advantage you can get. So in games I will choose to use optical sights if it's an option. Not necessarily a scope, a red dot or holographic sight is better for short range.

I haven't played a CoD in a while, but I preferred a sight on most guns. Honestly, it was something that there aren't enough useful gadgets/perks for me, so I use one on a sight. Since I tend to play from a distance, using an iron sight on an assault rifle could be troublesome on larger maps, but I'd never use the cheating trash known as Target Finder or Millimeter Scanner. I'd do ACOG, or something else pretty basic.

Yeah I'm more of a close-quarters breach and clear kind of player if anything an optical is just going to slow me down. I fire from the hip a lot too. I can see the use for long range based classes though especially if coupled with a decent zoom.

Being a shooter in real life? I don't see how that matters, none of it is the same.

And this is coming from somebody who has done IDPA pistol competitions.

I'm saying that using an optic gives you an advantage over iron sights in both cases. I'll take the optic since it has advantages over iron sights(back up sights).

Some optics can create a tunnel-vision effect and cause panning targets to get a better chance at not being hit. Or so I find.
