Their take on The Mandarin was definitely strange, and now I know why Jeremy Jahns said that half the people in the theater (the comic book nerds) would hate the movie at that point. I'm not peeved by it since Marvel loves to "reinvent" their heroes and villains all the time anyway.

I never really got into the comic books on the Iron Man end and really never read much about the mandarin but mainly remember him from some of the animated videos more then anything.

So it was no big issue for me but I just think his background could had been a lot more interesting then the entire mad scientist thing although it was fun to see AIM being added to the series as some of the stuff they designed was awesome.

It's only about 350 miles away from NYC, give or take.

Yeah, I was about 3.5 to 4 hours from NYC, and Anubis and Dr. Pizza are probably around 1 to 1.5 hours further west from where I used to live. It'd be quite the trek!

I've only read a lot of the newer Marvel comics since I only recently got back into it. The Civil War actually killed my desire to read more comics since I thought the ending was god awful. It just felt like they completely and suddenly dropped the ball to rush to the conclusion. :\ Thinking about it... most of the Marvel movies lack great conclusions too. I guess I'll have to wait until I finally start reading Secret Invasion to find out if that has flaws too, but I need to finish Civil War: Fantastic Four, Civil War: Avengers and Civil War: X-Men first. :'(

I don't know much about AIM, so I had to do a bit of reading. It seems odd how they just sort of mashed together AIM and Extremis like that. Imagine if they would have brought in MODOK!

I just remember them from the animated series they had for awhile and some of the other recent stuff they did with them.

I went to a 9:30PM screening...and I'm conflicted. Part of me loves Shane Black and everything he's done apart from the geek world...but now that it intercepts Marvel...

I'm not sure.

I really appreciate the dark/dry humor he brought to the characters...and it might be the whiskey talking, but I feel that he/they lost a large part of the audience. Especially considering what it's taken to get to this point.

meh..

Shell shocked Tony from the events of Avengers?
his mansion being attacked-> no auto defenses??!?
his new experimental armor is not combat ready-> u just challenged the Mandrian and literally gave him your home address. WTF?
IRON Legion vs Extremis -> why get close enuf? why not fire repulsars from long range?

And he gets the sharpnel in his chest removed. Thought it couldnt be removed from Iron Man1? did he inject himself with the Extremis tech?
hm.. that makes sense... "I will forever be Iron Man"

I think the comics covered the whole Extremis thing a lot better, so here's a bit about how the comics relates to this...

He does use the Extremis tech on himself in the comics. They don't really talk much about Extremis other than how it allows you to regenerate, which leaves out quite a bit. In the comics, it puts you into a sort of cocoon for a few days in which your body also rebuilds some of your organs to be superior to normal human organs. So, yeah... Tony used that on himself, but removed the super soldier portion of it. Adrian Killian in the movie was more of a mix between Adrian Killian and Mallen from the comics. Adrian Killian does release Extremis, but he commits suicide afterward when he realizes what he did. Mallen got infected from it and gained some of the same powers except he also had super speed and a few others.

In some ways, this movie just a weird mash-up of Iron Man stories.

Like most others, I liked it better than number 2 but not as much as number 1.

I'm not at all familiar with the comic books but it seems like both Iron Man and Killian (and his minions) were both too overpowered. Healing so quickly like that and of course the ability to spit fire are kind of ridiculous. Iron Man suit's ability to be charged with a boat battery and his whole collection flying in when needed just makes it too easy for him.

I saw it yesterday @ 8PM due to the Audi Event near my dealer. It was fun, they paid for everything which was nice. I believe they rented out the theater. Popcorn lady said they spent $6/mil for the events across the country.

The movie is good but different than 1 and 2 in a lot of ways. I won't spoil anything.

oh yeah.. Extremis tech gives Hulk strength to rip apart/punch thru Iron man's armor?!
plus wolverine healing factor on steroids!!
the only reason why i like this better than 2 is the Mandarin plot twist.

And WTF recharging a suit that requires at least 1.21 gigawatts of power on a boat battery?!
or was Michael J fox doing it wrong in Back to the Future?

78% now...

Ironman 2 had a 73% and I really didn't like it...maybe I should skip 3?

Don't skip 3 if you've seen the series. It completes it.

Trust me, I've seen 1 and 2 over 20 times combined. I was ecstatic that somebody wanted to pay for the ticket a day in advance for me.

Now I feel like I need to buy an f-ing Audi.

Maybe it was me screaming "I love the f-ing Germans" when I test drove the A6 that got me the tickets? No idea.

If you rely on RT to make your decisions, then /speechless. Just go see the goddam movie already.
It's not perfect, but it's among the best there is.

I see so few movies in theathers now that I normally won't consider it unless the movie is at least 90% on RT. With this one's score I can't be bothered now.

I always imagined this would end up in the mid to high 70's by the time it was said and done.

I did not like this movie at all. Way too many plot holes in general and inconsistencies from the first two movies.

Also hated that it was a fake Mandarin.

The rating keeps dropping everyday... Where will it end up at?
