I have never been a big fan of Metallica, and only a casual fan of Iron Maiden(although the Killers album rocked). Back in the 80's, I would listen more to Ozzy, Judas Priest and even the Scorpians. I never could get into Metallica for some reason, just didn't feel their music.

Now I think I will kick back and listen to Mr. Crawley, Freewheel Burning and Rock you like a Hurricane in that order 🙂

But, in my experience, I like Metallica. Just my opinion.

well duh... i thought this was common knowledge.

i still like some of the old metallica stuff... master of puppets is great. but... most of the rest of their stuff i could do without.

iron maiden is universally loved among metal fans i think. or at least i can't think of any i've known who don't like them.

Yeah, I finally watched that on VH1 this weekend. WTF? I knew lars was a whiney douche, but who knew kicking a raging alcohol addiction also resulted in castration and major pussification. The only guys in the band I like now is the new bassist.

That said, Metallica (prime) >> Iron Maiden (prime)

IM seemed to be all about image (Eddie), and not music. Don't get me wrong, they have some awesome songs, but for the most part, their body of work is rather average sounding (if technically interesting.)

It has nothing to do with "pussification". I'm a huge metalhead, but also a pacifist. I don't have testosterone oozing out of my ears generally.

Real people dealing with real life things. They just happen to be in a rock band.

BTW, James should get absolutely nothing but mad props for beating his alcoholism.

He's much happier now, I am sure. You can see it in his eyes. I have a recent performance of Master of Puppets, and he looks like a little kid again.. So wide-eyed.

I'm glad he beat alcoholism as well, but if alcoholism was such a problem with his life, he needed to make a choice, the music or his family. Instead, he decided to try and have both and obviously, the music suffered. I mean, you have actually listened to that crap on St Anger, right? *shudder*

Its only because I have an extreme lack of creativity. This was my username on a DBZ forum back a few years ago. The only other names Ive used are "20 Inches" for Halo/Halo 2 parties and "Tom" for CS:S. Tom is already taken, so would you rather have my SN be '20 Inches'? 😀
