Very very interesting. I will have to check it out once it is available on Steam.

I hope they fix the god awful controls and feel of the infantry combat. Could be amazing if they did.

Are you reffering to the F-keys?

Infantry combat is very close to the real deal, I dunno waht they should fix?
The ARMA universe is the closest thing to the real deal that I have tried..and believe me...I have tried many army games ;)

I pity you if walking around in real life is an excercise in patience and feels like a tank simulator. Anyone who thinks that Arma infantry movement and combat is anything but awful needs to consider for one second how effortless it is to control your body in real life.

I see a gun on the ground I pick it up. I don't crouch, press a button to open a menu, scroll to the item, click, open my backppack, place it, place in inventory, close inventory, stand up, and then press a button to open a menu to select the weapon I wanted.

It's all far to complicated. They need to dumb the infantry combat down for the sake of realism. It's absurd how awful it is. We do stuff all the time without having to think about it. In that way Arma fails massively as a simulation.

Sorry, but no.

ArmA has MANY faults. I've put over 200 hours into the game, and have seen my fair share. I honestly think complaining about the inventory system is silly.
You walk over a weapon/body, hit G (for gear menu), click "take" from his body. Boom. It's yours. I mean, really? What else is easier? Hit G, pick what you want, move on. Really. It's not that much different from Skyrim or similar games, where you choose "what you want", make sure it fits in your inventory, or move on.

As far as "infantry controls" go, I again fail to see the problem. It's somewhat "herky jerky", but nothing CLOSE to a deal breaker. All movements are single button push propositions: Go prone, crouch, stand up, switch weapon/secondary, board/disembark vehicle, etc. That's just seriously not unintuitive.

If there's something to bitch about with the ArmA games, it's the out-of-thebox HORRENDOUS AI and bugs. Luckily, most of that can be patched for those so inclined. The bottom line is NOTHING, not a single game, comes close to doing what ArmA does in depth and scope and realism. Nothing.
That doesn't excuse it's faults by a long shot, but it does mean it has to be judged in a different from the myriad of mindless nonsense shooters out there that reward bunny hopping, strafing, and twitch mechanics.

I have been keeping my eye on this for a while as I was a big RO player back in the day.

The thing is the developers have hardly done anything to market this game which gives me concern to the actual state its going to be in when its released tomorrow. Also the two reviews I have read so far basically say the single player is unplayable due to bugs.

Of course the multiplayer is where its heart lies but I would rather wait a few days to gather some playe feedback before potentially wasting money.
