Braunn died of cardiac arrest Friday in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday. No other details were given.

Braunn, considered a violin prodigy, began his musical career at age 4. He was born in Pekin, Ill., but raised in Los Angeles. He was 16 when he joined Iron Butterfly and spent 1967-69 on tour with the band. He was the lead guitarist on the band's 1968 anthem, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida."

Braunn and Doug Ingle, Ron Bushy and Lee Dorman, left their mark on musical history with the psychedelic, 17-minute "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida." The album went platinum and stayed on the national sales chart two years, and a three-minute version also became a Top 40 radio hit.

This arrangement is the complete 17 min. version and is as close to the original as I could get it. I created it to learn how to do drum solos. You will need an XG synth to play this back, otherwise it will sound terrible... I played it on my sound card (by-passing my XG Softsynth) using it's GM Midi synthesizer just to see and it sounded bad; really bad.

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
(In the Garden of Eden)
Iron Butterfly

In a gadda da vida, baby
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you
In a gadda da vida, honey
Don't you know that I'll always be true

Oh, won't you come with me
And take my hand
Oh, won't you come with me
And walk this land
Please take my hand

In a gadda da vida, honey
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you
In a gadda da vida, baby
Don't you know that I'll always be true

Oh, won't you come with me
And take my hand
Oh, won't you come with me
And walk this land
Please take my hand

In a gadda da vida, honey
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you
In a gadda da vida, baby
Don't you know that I'll always be true

Oh, won't you come with me
And take my hand
Oh, won't you come with me
And walk this land
Please take my hand

In a gadda da vida, baby
(In the Garden of Eden)
In a gadda da vida, honey
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you

Oh, won't you come with me
And take my hand
Oh, won't you come with me
And walk this land
Please take my hand

Those are the guys who sang that song. It's pretty bad ass. Heard some covers of it, never the original. Sorry, I'm a child of the '90s

One of the first concerts I ever went to was Iron Butterfly. A band called Blues Image played before them. You may remember 'Ride Captain Ride'. But who could forget 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida'. Unfortunately for the band that song made them sort of a one hit wonder. Occaisionally some FM stations will play the long version, and with this in the news give it a listen when you hear it aired.
