thanks to toglota. this is a good dela for a non-refurbed roomba vacuum. Especially for those who were interested in the one from Home Depot yesterday, this is a great deal as well. The refurbished one is $135 shipped in case you don't mind the refurbishing.

Use coupon JANCLEAR to get $25 off $125.

Anyone know the difference between the two roombas offered on Amazon (the red and white ones)? I do want one, but need to know why one is $50 more than the other....

The white one has a MAX setting and comes with a charging base that it automatically parks on. (The red, you have to manually plug it in.) Also, I think the white one comes with another virtual wall.

We have the red and love it. By the way, having to plug it in isn't so bad....it reminds me to empty the dustbin which you'll need to do about everytime you run it (assuming you have pets).

I also have the red one and yes it does remind you to clean it out. With the JANCLEAR coupon you can get the red one new for $124.99 shipped. Things the Discovery gives you for the extra cash that the Red doesn't have...

-Second virtual wall (you need two D cells per)
-"Max" mode button
-remote control to be able to "drive" it around and push the buttons remotely
-self charger base
-wall mount with built in charging
-fast 3 hour charger (versus 7 hour)
-APS battery with longer life (about 1.5-2x longer)

Besides these things, generally speaking the actual "business" end of the robot is the same on all the models. There is updated firmware and hardware that is starting to be released in the highest end Discovery SE. Firmware can be updated in all the models but you need the remote and some kit to be able to do that.

I don't know if the Max mode is that useful. My Red can clean the kitchen, hallway, living room and dining room without problems until it runs out of juice - the "real" problem. I guess the "Sage" model (between the Red and Discovery) may be the most useful because it comes with everything the Discovery comes with except for the self charger and remote. I can see how the APS battery, fast charger and wall mount would be useful, as well as the second virtual wall. The remote and self charger are gimmicks. You still have to bend over and get your hands dirty to empty the bin. Takes but a second more to pop it in the wall holder/charger or to plug in charger, plus you'll just have to carry this little thing to where you want to start it instead of "driving" it there with the remote. Big whoop!

BTW is the deal over? I show "regular" pricing now on the Discovery.

I am assuming that you are referring to the red one I have linked below? My sister has this one, and she likes it alot, but she got the 4210 to upgrade. I will ask her later tonite if she thought that there was anything wrong with the red one, because she seemed very happy to move on to the white 4210 Roomba.

Red one?
