iRiver vs. iPod

i'd go for the iriver just because i'm such a huge iriver fan. their ihp is soooo coool. it can even do voice recording. althought research mini-ipods before u make a decision

ipod all the way. the iriver hd player is kind of nice for a first effort, but it is a first effort. its interface and size are deficient when compared to ipods polish. when dealing with a couple hundred dollars and thousands of songs, interface and polish matter.

i don't like the windows software for the IFP's.

it's not very robust or versatile.

i haven't dealt with that software, but for ihps, it's just windows explorer. the thing shows up as a drive.

So you could get a 20gig iRiver for $400, or a 40gig iPod for $450.

Hmmmm...

actually the ihp 120 can be had for 334. and he specifically stated his budget was 399.

I  my iPod. However, the iRiver looks pretty good too. It's probably the only other hdd based mp3 player I'd even consider at this point. Decide which suits you best, then flip a coin 😉
