Good afternoon, just wanted to see if I could ge tsome help with a problem I'm having. I just moved into a dorm room today and I realized IRC is well, unusable. I'm told it's because the servers block the ports for it, but I'm sure theres gotta be some way around it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

You are not going to get any help here in trying to get around controls put in place in a network. You can either get some sort of broadband access or simply ask the network admin why access is blocked and see if you can get it unblocked. I am not saying that asking will work (and it most likely will not).

Howdy. Welcome to the networking forum.

These kinds of "how to get around network security" are kinda frowned upon because many of the members are network operators who have specifically setup this security to build a stable network.

IRC is a hotbed for virus, worms, and generaly network abuse. You can try talking to the support staff on how you could use IRC?
