Iraqi Elections Opinions

We all watch or read the news. My question to you all is do you think they'll happen on time, or be delayed. Also, do you think it'll be a bloodbath or successful?

I personally think through stubborness they will go ahead as planned, but it'll be a bloodbath.

The iraqi's want them overwhelmingly, so I think they'll go well in 90% of the country, with problems in a few areas.

As planned. Bloodbath.

It MUST occur on time... but because of a faulty strategy from day 1, there will (and has) been more blood than necessary.

I think turnout will be light in all but the safest provinces. There will be bloodshed but more after than during the "elections," the results of which will harden Sunni belief that they will be relegated to ignominy and more than likely result in an Iraqi civil war.

I think they will happen, with deaths. In any case Bush will declare victory and try to act like this is what Iraq was all about. The American sheeple will think this means things are headed in the right direction but they will be wrong. Ultimately, if Iraqis can sustain a democracy, they will not use it in a way consistent with American foreign policy or in a way that decreases terrorism around the globe.

The elections will take place on time during which there will be a "bloodbath" of sorts - in terms of car bombings and such. But I am not confident the election process, because:

- a foreign power with inherent interest in the results is occupying the country
- large regions of voters will be supressed because of ongoing violence
- unlike the Afghan and Palestinian election there will be no independent international observers.
