We'll see! European teams still have plenty of money, training and experience to just be brushed aside - and South America is just always soccer crazy 😉

But hopefully once we hit the quarter finals it won't just be largely Europe and South America!

Again - congrats iraq ^_^

Good for them! Hopefully this will help unite the country and we can get the hell out of there.

Nah... They'll just use it as another excuse to shoot each other.

That is their culture. They shoot guns in the air to celebrate even though to us that sounds barbaric.

I was glad to see their team won. The pictures/videos showing the Iraqi's celebrating was a nice change of pace.

i was listening to NPR earlier and iirc, they mentioned that when iraq won their previous match suicide bombers bombed some crowds during the celebrations 🙁

All the money and training is no match for determination and will. And I think the Iraqi's have tons of it.

Those aren't Iraqis doing that, and that is obvious enough. Bombing soccer fans? Puh lease - I haven't seen a SINGLE GROUP of of Iraqis not ecstatic about what happened.

My friend is totally bummed about this. He is from Korea, and is a soccer fanatic to say the least. He did like the fact of Iraq finally getting some good news coverage, but you can't just separate national pride when it comes to soccer.
