Henry Kissinger

Definitely a left of center source . . . the perspective is slanted but the account is historically accurate.
Once again....my original post about the U.S. helping people it defeated was pertaining to war. Yes, the CIA was most likely behind Pinochet's rise to power in Chile but the U.S. never declared war on the country thus the point about Chile is invalid. Sure the U.S. has some spots on it's record, but once again think of what the U.S. could do if it really wanted to. Also you have to remember that throughout the Cold War the Containment Theory is what we operated on when it came to fighting Communism. Sure we toppled a government or two to keep them from going Communist. Sometimes the people put in power weren't the best examples of mankind, but that was how things were done then. Pinochet is an extreme example of that type of operation.

Don't have to worry about that because they don't have WMD, right?

Wrong, and see if you can find where I said otherwise.

The article that you posted mentioned American soldiers were considering having mass graves in Iraq for the American soldiers that will die because Iraq uses Sarin and other chem/bio warfare on them. The anti-war(cowards) main stance is that Iraq does not have WMD. Would not a propaganda piece of US soldiersnot getting a fitting burial because of a lunatic using Sarin constitute some sort of oxymoron to their agenda?

President Saddam Hussein vowed today to "break the neck" of the US, saying Washington would pay a high price if it attacked Iraq.

My main concern is Iraq possibly using chemical or biological weapons on our troops in a last ditch effort to inflict as much damage possible and I have a feeling there will be more casualties than the last Gulf War. Hopefully arrogance and complacency has been beat out of our troops and military planner's heads.
I really don't think the Iraqi generals would go through with an order to use chemical or biological weapons against U.S. troops. Doing so would almost assuredly mean we would use nuclear weapons against them.

This is all great if you are going to be there and taking that risk personally... are they going to use everything they got? what would you do if someone invaded the US?

Sometimes you forget that the people of irak does not view you as the great savior but as the great satan that destroys what they have built up...

Sometimes you just forget to think...
The Iraqi people may think that of us but it's only because they don't know any better. Just like the Japanese fed their citizens lies about us during WWII and had them convinced we were murderous baby eaters. The Japanese were so brain washed that women and children jumped off cliffs on Iwo Jima rather than risk being "captured" by U.S. forces. It's chilling to watch old men, women, children, and women with babies in their arms jump to their death because they were so brainwashed. I would imagine that some in Iraq feel the same way due to their government feeding them lies about the U.S. Won't they be surprised when we come in, run out the dictatorship, free them, feed them, build them schools and hospitals, and generally make Iraq a better place. That's the difference between the U.S. and the past superpowers of the world. We don't go to war in order to conquer or build empires, we do it to protect ourselves, and for just causes in the world. Whenever we defeat a country we rebuild them afterward and give them a better and more free life.
The US government and its media has brainwashed you.

We can access external news media, and our media is not owned by the government...can third world middl-eastern countries claim the same?

Apparently the military isn't so sure and if they aren't neither should anybody else be. The way Iraq becomes a threat is when we go over there ame make them one by invasion. All humans know this just from experience with bees.
