Our troops won't leave Iraq till 2009 at the earliest. Bush will not withdraw because withdrawing would be an admission of the horrendous mistake he made by going in, and he is not man enough to admit it. He will keep it going until the next guy takes over, and then blame his successor for whatever mess is left after we pull out.

#1. Rumsfeld and friends for the lack of a working plan

#3. I feel like it will be more violent at first, but less violent in the long term than if the US forces were to stay there.

#4. A barely working democracy like Lebanon... though I think 3 seperate states united under a loose confederation to share oil profits would be the best choice.

#5+6. supported the war... still support the war. my big issues are with the total lack of post-war / winning the peace planning before entering the war (I think everyone in Washington drank the "we'll be greeted as liberators cool-aid), and with Bush's complete failure to hold the people responsible for the **** up accountable (in fact, going so far as to HONOR them with medals of freedom)

#7. the Iraq war has not changed my mind... my Democratic vote is for purely social and fiscal reasons.

Just a note: a GI from Iraq visited a lecture at my school and took questions from the audience. When someone asked him if they were actually doing tangible good there, he said yes. Then, someone asked him how much longer it would take to stabilize the country and pull out and consider it a "victory," and he said it would take a decade, maybe more.

Iraq is a sinkhole from hell, courtesy of dumbya, rummy, et al. Anyone who STILL supports this war, now knowing all of the lies that brought us into it, killing 3000+ troops, injuring 10,000's, and killing 100,000's of innocent Iraqi civilians, needs a serious session on a couch, as they've lost all touch with reality, like dumbya, cheney, etc... I never supported this war, it seemed like a pile of steaming rat puke from the start and someone trying to clean it up with a soup strainer.
