All prisoners in Iraq are to be freed under a general amnesty, Iraqi television has announced.

The statement added that Hussein saw the amnesty as a thank you for the 100 percent vote in a referendum endorsing his leadership on Tuesday.

Now why do I not believe that Saddam actually got 100% yes votes? ;)

It is real easy to get 100% of the votes when you have an armed guard taking your ballot that you signed.

He's going to set criminals free. Cool, he must be a liberal. He recognizes the need for forgiveness.

Only if he repents and gives complete access to his country by UN inspectors. Until that time, and it will never happen, shoot the bastard!

What a guy ol' Saddy is. He's always thinking of the poor and downtrodden. He's going to free all of the political prisoners that the nasty guards tortured non-stop for years. He's all heart. If he had known the conditions in the "prisons" he would never have allowed it. I'll bet his next step is going to be to purge his government of all the "meanies" who do bad things. How could we have ever doubted the Mother Teresa of the Middle East. God save Saddam Hussein!

Well well well, Tom and glen are both better people than I. I'll forgive him when he's out of power and brought to justice or dead in the process.

Total repentace is neccessary for forgiveness. I'll give him the benefit of a doubt when he can bring all those he has killed back to life.

He should get the nobel peace prize. If Arafat can get one this great guy deserves one.
