Iraq orders prisoner amnesty

All prisoners in Iraq are to be freed under a general amnesty, Iraqi television has announced.

The statement added that Hussein saw the amnesty as a thank you for the 100 percent vote in a referendum endorsing his leadership on Tuesday.

Now why do I not believe that Saddam actually got 100% yes votes?

It is real easy to get 100% of the votes when you have an armed guard taking your ballot that you signed.

What a guy ol' Saddy is. He's always thinking of the poor and downtrodden. He's going to free all of the political prisoners that the nasty guards tortured non-stop for years. He's all heart. If he had known the conditions in the "prisons" he would never have allowed it. I'll bet his next step is going to be to purge his government of all the "meanies" who do bad things.
