There are 2 undergrounds to be considered:
the Physical Underground
and the Populist Underground
NVA Regulars fought from their bunker systems when they thought they could inflict enough damage,
Viet Cong (hidden within the local villagers) fought at night after they spent the daytime reviewing our base camps
and taking our dimes - we paid them to work for us. They sure as hell weren't brave and magnificent warriors.
But of course nobody in the Bush Administration ever learned anything from history, or maybe from anything else either.
