Personally I believe that is why she was chosen, so americans can say "that's pretty awesome".

Its a male dominated culture, and I suspect it was a male (bremmer) that heavily influenced this decision.

A political good move for the iraqi council, even if its an ideological sham.

Now if she's smart, she'll get to the US asap before the iraqi's make her dead, like the last female councilwoman.
