Let's see...We can start with Afghanistan and once we have taken them over we can go through Iran and do the same. As long as we're going in that direction we can finish Iraq off as well. A nice 3-in-1 :)

J/K! I know that won't happen, just being silly.

Who started the war between Iran and Iraq? What was it about?

Iran has closed it's borders with afghanistan, but of course like many other countries they are not going to be for a lot of military action.

I didn't expect Iran to assist. They will not open their airspace either.

Iraq was the aggressor during the iraq-iranian war, they were of course doing the same thing they did with Kuwait, trying to redraw their countries boundaries. They captured quite a bit of Iranian territory.

Yeah, won't happen because Afghanistan just can't be taken over. Just ask Russia.

You don't need to take them over to nuetralize them and their terrorist groups. We can continue to strike those terrorists with Commando and surgical strikes and support the Northern Afghani Alliance with weapons and money. We can also do the same with Iraq (instead of turning our back on our Iraqi Alliesd fighting agianst Hussien like we did in the Gulf War) We also have to strike the terrorist groups in the Bekka Valley hard too (the Herzbollah and the Hamas)

Afghani Operatives. The Taliban is predomiately run and made up of fanatical Religious Zealots from Pakistan, a lot of Afghani's would like to see them put out of power.

This surpises you?? or anyone??

Many others that said they would back us are now waffling also.

France will back us???? Bwaaahahahahahaha

RED- Think the Afgani Operatives will trust us after the Gulf war abandonment of the Nationals there? They will take our help and fight because it is to their benefit, not ours necessarily just like anyone else would do. Not a putdown on them, just an observation.

No joke man. The middle east has been one big alliance since the rest of the world started picking on its parts

I missed his name, but the northern Afgans have pledged 15,000 troops in support of the ouster of the Taliban. Some kind of 'Ambassador' and he was on FOX a couple nights ago.

I just hope we don'y lose our momentum and get bogged down in 'negotiations.' I think they are just delay tactics.

Looks like a week or more before forces can be moved to that part of the world. Bet there is a lot of activity behind the scenes that is going to make very interesting reading after all this is over..

I like this approach since it will hopefully appease the other Muslim nations that we are not "invading" or "attacking" Afghanistan -- instead Afghan's future will depend on Afghans themselves.

We just want to destroy all the terrorists cells and training camps -- those are our enemies -- not the Afghan people.

BTW, do you guys think that our relations with Iran can improve if the US apologizes to them for our past actions? I heard that the CIA supported the overthow of their elected government and help put in the Shah of Iran in. If we did do this, then I think it is wrong because we're supposed to be for the will of the people and in this case we went against the will of the people.

I just want as many friends in the Middle East as possible -- because there are too many radical fanatics in that region.

Gaining friends in the middle east is proving to be very difficult. The two ideal locations from which to attack Afghanistan from, Iran and Pakistan, as well as the other states in the area, are proving to range from outright hostility to us or agreeing to very shaky alliances.

I believe that Washington will slowly turn to states that have been overlooked: Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, both potential partners for the U.S. military. These states must be wary of Russian pressure as well as the threat of a fundamentalist backlash. But I think they'll ultimately allow the US to base aircraft and possibly even special operations units.

These two countries are also beneficial in that their borders with Afghanistan are shorter and thus easier to secure. They also have better infrastructure.

Iran would be the ideal staging point for an attack on Afghanistan. Why do you think we're using Pakistan, the country that created the Taliban instead? Our relationship with Iran is so bad that the military didn't even consider it.

This is no suprise.
