What that would do is if an airplane was damaged in operating in the western part of Afghanistan, he could head for Iran and have a sanctuary there where he could bail out. yeah, but wasn't it iran who just less than a week ago warned us not to stray into their airspace or they would shoot us down..? curious change in their stance...

There's a difference between using airspace to bomb a country, and running to a country after being shot down.

The Iranian government may agree to give safe haven, but I don't know that the Iranian people will.
