1981: Israel bombs Baghdad nuclear reactor
The Israelis have bombed a French-built nuclear plant near Iraq's capital, Baghdad, saying they believed it was designed to make nuclear weapons to destroy Israel.

It is the world's first air strike against a nuclear plant.

With remarkable precision, an undisclosed number of F-15 bombers and F-16 fighters destroyed the Osirak reactor 18 miles south of Baghdad, on the orders of Prime Minister Menachem Begin.

The army command said all the Israeli planes returned safely.

The 70-megawatt uranium-powered reactor was near completion but had not been stocked with nuclear fuel so there was no danger of a leak, according to sources in the French atomic industry.

Mortal danger

The Israeli Government explained its reasons for the attack in a statement saying: "The atomic bombs which that reactor was capable of producing whether from enriched uranium or from plutonium, would be of the Hiroshima size. Thus a mortal danger to the people of Israel progressively arose."

It acted now because it believed the reactor would be completed shortly - either at the beginning of July or the beginning of September 1981.

The Israelis criticised the French and Italians for supplying Iraq with nuclear materials and plegded to defend their territory at all costs.

The statement said: "We again call upon them to desist from this horrifying, inhuman deed. Under no circumstances will we allow an enemy to develop weapons of mass destruction against our people."

The attack took place on a Sunday, they said, to prevent harming the French workers at the site who would have taken the day off.

I don't think that's allowed under international la.... haha, oh yeah - what was I thinking! 😀

He won't nuke his own people over it. Why the hell will he do that?
Iranians Jews still very much have strong ties to Iran. They just hate the regime.

Though you might be correct with your final conclusion, let me shade some light on what you've just said...
"Israel's defense minister is Iranian" - He is a jew that was born in Iran and ran away from there as a kid, so you can imagine how much he likes that country... He is currently the defense minister, but it seems that with the upcoming elections (March) in Israel he is likely to lose this post.
"Israel's president is Iranian" - same story for running away from Iran. The president of Israel has close to ZERO influence on anything, in their system the PM is the man in power.
"Israel's chief of staff is Iranian" - I'm not sure if he was born in Iran, but his liking to that country is not greater than the previous two. Unlike the previous two though, this guy has major influence on the way Israel might handle its response. Before being chief of staff he's been the chief of the air force...

Edit: couple of errors fixed...

how so? or you are being sarcastic?

either the US or Israel will bomb the crap out of the iranian nuclear sites to prevent them from getting the bomb. unless iran wants to "retaliate" by invading iraq, they are pretty much contained. iraq to the west , afghanistan to the east , the gulf/ocean/water to the south with a couple of carrier task forces to blockade them

They didn't run away. Most Jews went to Israel when it was created. Israel is the "state" for Jews.

Those 3 people - do not like the Iranian govt. They have no reason to like the Iranian govt. I can assure you they like their Iranian people. Iranian Jewish communities are large and they all share the same agenda. Pro-Shah, Anti-Iranian Regime.

Killing their own people is probably the last thing they have on their mind.

Their goal is to get rid of Islamic rule in Iran and establish a democratic government. Their goal is not to bomb their own people who share the same vision as them.

All the Iranian leaders in Israel love Israel. It is their home/country, but they also understand the dream of the Iranian people. To be free from a corrupt and brutal government. Killing them is not going to do any good.

Iran can inflict major damage on Israel and US troops in the ME using their missiles
and concerning Iran being "contained" by US troops in Iraq,it's the other way around,
let alone US troops' problems with the Iraqi resistance.

Are you delusional? About half my friends from high school are Jewish-Iranian immigrants. All of them have stories of escaping Iran in camels across the desert after the Islamic Revolution. Doctors, engineers, other professionals alike were exiled into Israel and the US because of the possible death they faced.

The people he said "fled" Iran, moved out of Iran before the revolution. Like.. in the 1950s

Those who you claim had to run didn't run because they were Jewish, but because they were working for the Shah. Most were generals or had contracts with the Shah govt.

The majority of Iranians in the U.S were already here prior to the revolution. In the 1970s thousands of Iranians were in the U.S getting university degrees.

Fine, then let's bulldoze that whole region and start over.

What region are you talking about? The M.E?

The M.E is only 18-25% of the Muslim population.

Shocking isn't it? Learn something new every day.

And yet that 18-25% seems to rule with an iron fist...protests, riots, firebombing, etc...

Yes,

The U.S doesn't have any protest or riots.

That kind of stuff doesn't happen in the West.

They must be horrible people.

They're doing this sh!t over some fvcking political cartoons! If that doesn't show serious detachment from reality I don't know what does.

I don't see millions of them on the street. I see thousands. The majority of the populations are not rioting.

So what if they riot? Let them destroy their own country. How does that make them violent towards the West? Have you ever seen anti-Bush protest? If it wasn't for the massive police forces the situation would go crazy.

It just shows that they have a veryy strong faith and they basically lack anything else considering the majority of the people rioting are village people who probably own camel farms. All they have is their religion.

Alrighty, I'll compromise...let's just start shooting the rioters.

Carry a Molotov Cocktail....BOOM, say hello to Allah for me.

Ok with your thinking, next college championship game we should go shoot the college students who start trashing buildings and burning cars and throwing bottles at police.

Great.
I'd be alright with them getting shot (non-fatally).

Well, I don't care about the ones who throw bottles at the police.

Nobody cares about your opinion if you can't back it up with facts. People are here to learn. This is not a soap opera where you are the center of attention and people actually care about your views without an understanding as to how you got those views.

Applaud 🙂
Well said. I'm sick of all the ATOTers that give their BS hardheaded opinion with no argument whatsoever. STFU!

its not running away, its called having your assets seized and being expelled. and well just look at those places the jews fled, no jew in their right mind would stay where even a cartoon could get u killed. finding a reason to kill a jew would be beyond easy

and yes thats why the arab defenders that claimisrael is out to wipe them out are on crack. the only people out for genocide are the iranians. its a place where becoming a martyre is far too acceptable. you just need one crazy leader to decide that his country is a worthy nuclear martryre against israel. after all one nuke and israel is gone. even if israel retaliates against say iran, there are 1.2billion muslims left. the fanatics have already done the math, its why they are so dangerous. it doesn't even have to be the leader, things get lost in regiems like this. slip it to terrorists, and well, now you can deny link even.

Do you know what it is you are talking about or is this your Islamic hate speaking?

Let me educate you and then you can proceed to open up your Word document and paste the 30 worthless links about Muslim-Jews that you have saved.

The majority of immigrants to Israel are from Russia. What does Russia have to do with seized land or being expelled? People immigrate to Israel. They do not always run to Israel.

The Jews in Iran are protected under the Law. Explain this one to me. They are even allowed a perm member to their cabinet even though their population is 12,000 out of 70 million. I thought the Iranian government hated Jews?? Iran even pays for their places or worship and they are also protected under the law.

Jews in Iran were always wealthy and successful and educated all the way up to 1979. So explain to me how anything you just said has to do with the 3 leaders of Israel immigrating to Israel during the 1950s.

oh and thanks OP for letting the p&n trolls like aimster out of their cage. big thanks.

I?m a P&N troll? You don't even know what it is you are talking about.

You lack an education and an understanding of the topic.

You bring nothing to do the table. All you bring is your worthless opinion filled with no facts.

STFU!

he asked a question and i answered it. i didn't see where i needed to provide a thesis.

did you even read the convo? he asked if we should kill some people and i said yes. it's not BS, it's not hardheaded. it wasn't even serious. so stfu yourself. kthx.

Israel is not going to destroy Iran

Why?

800,000-1,000,000 Jews are Iranian. Jewish population is 14,000,000.

Israel's defense minister is Iranian
Israel's president is Iranian
Israel's chief of staff is Iranian

It's one big family feud.

Israel is just going to strike Iran's nuclear sites.

The president of Israel as close to ZERO influence on anything, in their system the PM is the man in power.
"Israel's chief of staff is Iranian" - I'm not sure if he was born in Iran, but his liking to that country is not greater than the previous two. Unlike the previous two though, this guy has major influence on the way Israel might handle its response. Before being chief of staff his been the chief of the air force...

Killing them is not going to do any good.

its not running away, its called having your assets seized and being expelled. and well just look at those places the jews fled, no jew in their right mind would stay where even a cartoon could get u killed. finding a reason to kill a jew would be beyond easy

Do you know what it is you are talking about or is this your Islamic hate speaking?

you ignorant twit. i said the jews of the arab countries were expelled. the jews of russia are irrelevant to this discussion, regardless of the antisemtism they also suffered. you paint a wonderland for the jews left in iran. sorry, they only get by when they keep an ultra low profile. their synagogues dont' even have external signs. it is such a small community that it is powerless, and thus not much of a threat, like the women of iran, they face quiet oppression and discrimination. they are probably tolerated as a convenient way to pretend to be tolerant all the while spewing antisemitic indoctrination. the ones that stay stay because of their connection to the land. they were there before islam after all.

nice of you to mention my links. sorry their damning evidence of the flawed nature of that religion is etched into your mind.

You can defend Iran and sugar coat things all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that their democratically elected leader has said these things. Did not the people know who they were electing? If they did, then you can not say that it's only a very small minority of militant people. The President of Iran represents at least 50% +1 of the votes which is not small.

I love how there are only 14 million jews in the world, and yet they're always in headlines or being talked about. Did you know israel is smaller then New Jersey?
