I caught this from my news feeds about Iran

"With parliamentary elections scheduled for next week, Iran has begun blocking Internet services, Web security experts say, adding to concerns that government leaders hope to shut off Iranians from the rest of the online world."

http://worldnews.msnbc.msn.com/_new...g-30-million-from-email-web-ahead-of-election

Looks like Iran is planning ahead of time to block all news in and out of Iran during the upcoming election. Does anyone really believe they even count the votes? This is why there are no reputable news sources for what really is happening inside of Iran!

Why would they count votes when he always gets all of them? Seems like a waste of time IMHO. But yes, they are closing off the country as part of the election procedure.

They just won an Oscar, so maybe if Obama apologizes one more time, that will be enough to avert war.

IMHO, piasabird barks up the totally exact wrong tree.

When it comes to Iranian legislative elections, Iran does indeed function as a democracy. With too many candidates for various elections for the Mullah's to all rig in their favor.

Which misses the entire reason of why Iran is not a true democracy.

Which is, if the Mullah's and the supreme Iranian Ayatollah does not like any given Iranian legislative decision democratically reached, they have the power to simply veto the decision.

Really not radically different than a US Presidents ability to Veto a bill passed by both the Senate and House, but still a US Presidents Veto can be over ridden and the mullah's veto is absolute.

But there is some US hypocrisy here, we love and support the even less democratic Saudi Arabian Government that is far less democratic than Iran on steroids.

The OP is totally wrong. Iran would never launch an offensive attack against the biggest military power in the world. They also wouldn't even try to defend themselves militarily as they'd negotiate.

Where did the OP say this? He hasn't edited his post, so we know for a fact he didn't say it in this thread.
