Iran's parliament & President is little more than window dressing. They have no real authority.
Nice election. Many people were not allowed to run because they would win and they are against the Mullahs. Nice way to run a country.

emm, over 5500 candidates ran out of 7500 that filed papers. Thats pretty good considering we Americans only had a choice between Bush or Kerry.
They have no power. The head Mullah has the final say. Those elections are worthless if the head can strike down whatever he wants. Even if 100% of them agree on something the head Mullah can say too bad.
those 2,000 that didn't run were part of the reform party and many of them were up for reelection. INCLUDING the President's own brother!!!!

Homosexuals get killed trust me. It isn't like the U.S were people look at them and walk away. Nobody tells you they are homosexual there. If they find out they will get killed by their neighbor. It's wrong to have Islamic Law when the country doesn't agree with it.

Then why are you compairing it to our presidential election.
We had 600+ people elected 1 week ago into our Federal government, and who knows how many times that into our state & local governments.
That would indicate close to 2000 people who competed for the Federal elections.
Sounds like the American people had a quite few choices vs Bush/Kerry that you insinuated.
You're partially right, but any of the 5500 can take the post of the President, while only Kerry or Bush can take the post in the US.
