They might win if the suit gets filed in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court. ;)

They're right.

I'm suprised we weren't sued for training Bin Laden how to kill, then setting him free.

What good will it do. International law is for everybody else but the US. We operate on the basis of might makes right. It's how Bush plans to destroy us.

Exactly.

In any case, the USA had violated the Friendship Treaty which both countries had signed in 1955. It is this Treaty which constitutes the legal basis for these proceedings, according to a 1996 decision by the highest court of the United Nations.

Seems like the US citizens they held hostage would violate this treaty as well. Let's countersue! Maybe we can settle out of court for all of the oil rights in Iran.

A strange spectacle in court: As the USA prepares for a war against Iraq, it is being sued by Iran for its previous close relationship to Saddam Hussein. At the International Court of Justice, Teheran is accusing the United States of delivering dangerous chemicals and deadly viruses to Baghdad during the eighties.

They need to determine three things:

1. Did USA do that?
2. Is it illegal?
3. Should they be punished?

I don't know the answer to 2 and 3, but the answer to 1 is "yes".
