Iran hostage crisis

What we already knew but now that this old fucker is close to death....

Barnes — who served as speaker of the Texas House of Representatives and lieutenant governor, and who also helped George W. Bush get into the Texas Air National Guard — said he wanted to set the record straight, given that Carter is in hospice care. “History needs to know what happened,” he said. “I think it’s so significant and I guess knowing that the end is near for President Carter put it on my mind more and more and more. I just feel like we’ve got to get it down some way.”

Let's see, I was 6 years old at the time and even I knew this. Conservatism is a disease. I don't care how great a person is in every other way. If they are a conservative, they are human garbage.

It was no surprise that they worked behind the scenes to delay the hostage release. Good that he comes forward, but it was more than suspected at the time.
This two part show is well worth watching on PBS
American Experience : Taken Hostage

It has appearances and narration by people who were there, soldiers from the failed rescue mission, and the backstory of how and why the Shah ended up in power.

At this point I’m just waiting for someone to admit Republicans assassinated JFK and RFK in league with Southern Baptists and the CIA (LOL!!)

Then America’s post WWII downfall, destruction of the middle class and the American Dream can all be traced back to conservatism.

Nixon did it in 1968, Reagan did it in 1980. Republicans know very well that destroying your own country from without works, especially when there's a Democratic President in the White House.

Goldwater said in 1964, "extremism in defense of liberty is no vice". For the Republican Party, liberty is being able to do whatever it takes to take and hold power.

Here's an article that rebuked Reagan's October Surprise as a nothingburger: http://hnn.us/articles/4249.html

So I wonder what Daniel Pipes has to say about his opinion piece now? And who specifically put him up to the task of trying to bury Reagan's involvement with delaying the hostages for political advantage?

Would be nice to get a reaction from him about this. I presume his street creds are still intact even after his stab at whitewashing what happened.
