Iran continues uranium enrichment program, China/Russia invades...

Russia will not be invading Iran. In fact, Russia is (and has been since the Shah was deposed) a major arms supplier to Iran, to the tune of more than $1 billion per year.

Russia didn't supply major weapons to Iran until after the Iran-Iraq War. (mid 1990s was the first major shipment).
There was also a long period, I believe 2-4 years during the Clinton Admin where Russia stopped selling arms to Iran because they signed an agreement with the U.S.
They obviously broke that agreement a few years ago.

I doubt either would. Russia wouldn't because of what Vic said and China, well, it is doubtful, since they want all that oil. But if China did, it would be great. China's military, other than being large, is terrible. It would turn into one big quagmire and would cripple the Chinese leadership.

I think a much more real worry is that Israel will attack Iran, dragging the US into it. Were that conflict to escalate globally, I believe Russia, France, and Germany would eventually side with Iran, and China, Britain, and India with the US.

I don't think that will happen and I hope it won't.
There is not enough public support for it and frankly we have no real reason to do it.
I doubt the Iranians will want to start a war on their own as well, in such a case as aggressors most of the world will be against them.

China siding with us when France, Germany, and Russia don't? Not likely. Either the US will invade or Isreal will bomb their facilities. If that happens without UN approval Russia and China will not be very happy.

War is ALWAYS economic in origin.

LMAO... Wow - I can't even comprehend the ignorance of history and geopolitics required to make that statement.

^^Which is why China and Russia will side with Iran, they want oil.
^ Their not exactly allies but it won't matter, their economic partners.

Really? And may I ask how much oil does Russia buy from Iran, LOL?

China mainly, Russia just wants to sell their hardware. Iran is happy to buy.

With regards to Russia, you should try again. They have an economic interest in Iran, but weapons are only a secondary one.

So what WOULD you call two countries that are shielding you from the rest of the world? How much more friendly does one get to another country than blocking America and Europe from taking action?

Enlighten me. What is the Primary one. 80% of their exports are petrolium products are they not?
Exactly. Russia is interested in the lack of stability in the Middle Yeast, because it drives oil prices up. Russia is totally not interested in a nuclear Iran sharing a couple of warheads with the Chechens though.

You fail to see the point. Blocking diplomatic and political action (or even a military one) isn't the same thing as involving yourself in a military conflict on that side.

Oh, I suppose I went too far with how I worded it. No, I wouldn't expect Russia or China to get that involved with Iran, but just as you say they are blocking diplomatic and political action. So I say their allegiance goes at least that far in my attempt to point out how absurd this topic is.
China/Russia invades...
Will never happen.

Alright. Suppose the US invades Iran and it goes pretty much like Iraq did... Quick military victory followed by 5 year Insurgency. Petrolium prices would sky rocket in the short term, making Russia fairly happy. Then as stability returns prices drop again. The US now has complete control over the persian gulf and oil traffic is 100% secure. Prices dive. Isn't this the last thing Russia wants? Low prices and complete US control over persian gulf oil? In the long term when supply dips far below demand who gets the short stick?
I think Russia will most likely try to prolong the dispute over uranium to keep tension high and oil prices aswell, but they don't want Iran to be Invade, in the long term wouldn't it hurt them?

No they aren't, you're crazy. They would never aid Iran against us, they won't go to war with the west over insignificant Iran...
