IR remote lagging

Using a K6-2/450, 256 RAM running WinXP Pro, no additional background apps.

Running:
Winamp
WinLIRC
IRAssistant

----
When not playing an mp3/ogg, the remote works perfectly. I press a button, and it does what I want. When I'm playing an mp3/ogg (CPU utilization is ~10-18%) the system does not recieve any commands from the remote - or very few. I can press a button constantly for 20 seconds, and only have it respond to one push.

The IR reciever is connected through a Comm port, running at 115k baud.

Any ideas on what I can do to make the remote work correctly while winamp is playing a song?

try setting it lower ... most things still work at 9600

I had a similar problem with antoher i/o device and 9600/8/n/1 solved it

I'll try that. The thing is, the instructions for the setup of the remote say to use 115k.

I'm also going to try running it on an additional PCI Com port card, and see if that helps at all.

(crossing my fingers)
