IR Remote help

I just got my Pac bell remote today, but I can't get it to work. I downloaded WLIRC, and pointed it to the proper packard_bell.cf file. I get the grey dot, so I think that part works. Now according the the directions, the grey dot turns green when a signal from the remote is received. I don't get any signal. The dot never turns green. I don't have IRQ conflicts, I am using the proper com port, and I have fresh batteries in the remote. If I don't even get a signal, the Winamp plugin and IRAssistant are pointless...

Sun818 or others please advise.

You are doing something wrong

Nah, really, check and MAKE SURE you are using the correct com port. Try all of the com ports if you have to. While you try all the com port, also hit the Raw Codes button in winlirc. You should see a bunch of numbers when you press a button.

Anyway, since your computer is only a 233, the remote isn't going to work well. I tried it on a 233 while playing an mp3 with winamp, and winlirc could not receive any signals.
