IR on notebook not recognized by Palm Desktop

I've got an HP Omnibook 4150. I am able to sync my Palm V via the serial cradle without a hitch. I recently tried to select IR Port from the HotSync menu and it gives me the error message, "Error accessing the IR port. See the //Helpnotes//IR_Readme.txt for more info". I looked in the trouble shooting guide and there was no topic of the sort. I also tried to find this IR_Readme.txt file and nothing. I've got 3 options for IR in my BIOS:

SIR
ASK-IR
FIR [DMA mode]

I've tried them all and still the same error. There are no confilcts with any of the IR settings; Windows 2000 Professional auto detects it just fine and states that all is ok and operational but everytime I select IR as a Sync option, it brings forth the error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
