iptv networking question

I've got TV over the internet at my house, they just ran a new cat5 cable to the box in my basement from the 2Wire gateway that feeds the system via cat5 and coax cable to the boxes in my home. The gateway is also a wireless router. I'd like to put some other stuff in the same area as the new tv box in my basement (wii, computer via a cable connection as opposed to wifi, etc) but would rather not have to run more separate cat5 lines to this same spot. The question is, can I use a hub or a switch at the end of this cat5 line to my tv box to split the cat5 into separate lines, so that it can go to the tv box and whatever else I want to have an internet connection?

Thanks
