IPS monitor, radiation, and sharp object question

Hiya,

I have a Dell 23 inches IPS monitor. Just now I accidentally scratched the monitor with a steak knife. It has a little scratch as per the picture below. I'm Asian, and not particularly savvy with computers, but my parents (when I was a kid) were particularly wary about new technology incl. computers and warn me about radiation leak.

I know this will sound ridiculous for you North American-ers, but this is a legitimate question from my part, will that scratch on the monitor leak any harmful radiation or anything bad that could affect my body or my eyes or something?

If it's a CFL backlight, you might now be receiving 0.0000000027% more UV radiation, therefore more likely by 0.000000000000012% to get eye cancer. Your mother is right...to an unfathomably tiny degree.

i was about to eat steak while watching yahoo! screen, i moved my wireless keyboard from under my monitor with knife and forks still on my right hand, and when i lifted the keyboard from under the monitor, "scratchh" went the knives end scratching the monitor.

it's a small scratch all things considered, i can't see them from 3 meters away

If you wanted to be cool joe about this then you could take the monitor outside.

Use some paint stripper to wipe off the protection on the rest of the screen.
I know sounds extreme but then now go visit your local car window tint place and they could lay some tint on the screen for you. Or you could just lower the brightness level which is way much easier.
