Is the iPod not the best mp3 player?

I'm not trying to start a flame war, but i sold mine (for $75 profit mind you) and i miss it every day. Having seen the new ones i think they are even better. I really need a new one.

What do you guys use for protable mp3?

IDK, My friend has one and I have used it a lot, but I dont think you can say it is the best till you use the Archos Media Station thing or Nomad Zen...
 
1 gig is not enough. I like the fact that you can have it ALL with you.

How much does a 1 GB CF card cost ?
 
the 3rd gen iPods might become the best, IMO.

the two reasons i picked my 20GB Zen over a 20GB iPod (2nd gen), is because of price and on-the-fly playlists. after playing around with both, the iPod just wasn't good enough to justify the $200+ difference.
 
1gb CF cards run a few hundred bucks...
I have a 20gb iPod and love it. Those who say the Jukebox, etc are superior are just saying so because they have more features. I want an MP3 player, not something that does what a PDA should do.
 
I dont think $300 for the new 10 GB is to bad, not as bad as it used to be @ 400.

I miss it every day, but without selling it i would have never goten my powerbook. My goal is to get a new one sometime this year, or perhaps one of the version 2 10 GB ones
 
it really sucks that Apple won't allow the 2nd gen iPods' firmwares to be flashed to the 3rd gen firmware.

I have an iTrip and it kinda sucks. It sounds worse than most of the local radio stations. It wasnt worth $35 IMHO.
 
apple needs to come out with a color lcd...current display color is old school

ps: anyone know where to get the toshiba pcmcia hard drives apple uses? i wanna hack my 15gb to like 40gb+ 😀

i read some people have really good others really bad reception with it seems like a QC issue to me

another explanation is the FM band in extremely crowded in some areas

did you try it in your house and car?



i paid 37 or 39 for mine got it from the apple store since no local retailer carries it

where did you get yours?
if locally you might want to try an exchange

The length of its too long in my opinion. If it was as small as my MD then that would be good. Going to need furthere developments though. Just about the only thing they did not sort out that I didn't like on my gen 2 20gb iPod.
 
i picked up one of those v2 10gb touchpad refurbs for $199 at the apple store a week or two ago... been really happy with it, packaged like it was practically new. i also picked up an itrip with it, and have had pretty decent luck with it. however, the things i have noticed:
-there is a high pitched whine for me, barely audible, and i don't hear it unless it's in between songs with no music... annoying when there's no music playing, can't hear whine at all when there is, so i guess i'll get used to it
-in the city i live in, i had no problems finding empty audio stations in my car (honda accord in raleigh, nc)
-if you have a cassette player in your car, i would probably recommend using that instead of the itrip... the quality is probably better via tape deck, but the itrip is actually surprisingly good

 
the new ones are sweet. i'll get one later. i know i'll just have to buy a car deck with a line in when i get one and maybe uprade my speakers while i'm at it... so i'll wait a little 🙂
 
The ipod is by far the best MP3 player availible now. It also has the best accessories, and the best support.
 
I loved my Ipod, but had to sell it cus i needed funds. But, ever since i realized that attending class in college was damn near optional, the need for it seemed to diminish. 😀

I tried it on quite a few different stations on my home system, and while the tuner said that the signal was strong, it still didnt sound as good as some of the more popular local stations. In fact is sounded more mono than stereo. The iTrip really seemed like a great idea, unfortunatley it didnt work out so well for me 🙁. Oh well I hope you have better luck with yours!
 
i trip is nothing new. years ago when my old car didn't have a cd player, i bought a 10 dollar transmitter just like the itrip for my discman. i thought it sucked.. probably just like the itrip. cept they charge you tons for the trip😛

u can find em in the same area as the cassette adaptors.

which is why i must wait till i get a line in jack deck in my car b4 i can justify an ipod🙂
