iPod vs. Zune

Yeah, I was exaggerating. iPods aren't horrible, but there are still better alternatives that people should know about. Like the Zen Vision:M.

Does Zune have support from Rockbox? No.
Do most iPods have support for Rockbox? Yes.

Hmmm, hard decision.

I agree totally. It's only a matter of time before every cell phone contains an mp3 player like the iPod. You already have the screen and buttons, all you need now is more memory and a higher quality audio chip.

Well, almost anything's better than an iPod.

That's just pure iPod hate without actually considering what the iPod can do as an MP3 player. I realize now that the iPod is still a good choice, because it's smaller and lighter than other competing players, and cheaper (80gb for $350, score!).

Don't get me wrong, I used to be an iPod-hater, but that was when there were choices much better than the iPod.

the gigabeat s and the zen vision are both better devices

Call me crazy but the only reason i wouldn't want an iPod is because I want to alienate myself from all the other kids out there who think 'he must be poor to have an mp3 player that is not an iPod'

The iTunes Music Store isn't available where I live. So getting an iPod isn't that attractive to me. I do like the Nano - I hated the Shuffle.

A decent mid-range cell-phone that serves as a phone (duh), address book, music player and decent digital camera for some web-friendly photos FTW! I seriously don't feel the need to carry my whole media library around.

Rockbox sucks. It's slow and unreliable. My friend uninstalled it because it was so slow.

Slow to do what? Browsing isn't slow, returning from sleep isn't slow. I don't know what happens when you turn various effects on. The only slow time is booting up, which shouldn't be often. I've only used it on a Nano, and it's basically ideal.

1) Playsforsure.com
2) Losing money on every Zune made, yet it still costs as much as an iPod.

I rest my case.

P.S. I still don't understand the point of WiFi as implemented on the Zune.

I used my friend's 30GB 5G iPod with Rockbox on it. Browsing was incredibly slow. It took like 4-5 seconds to switch between folders.

I hate the iPod...the Zune looks cool, and the wifi idea is neat for sure. I have my Creative Zen Vision:M, and I can use it as an external HDD and it plays anything.

Creative FTW!
