From Apples education department, you can get a disount on any Apple product. All you have to pay for is tax. Shipping and laser engraving are both free. There is no verification required to use this, I have bought three Ipod here in the last year, with no problems either time. When you get into this website, you have to click on the Apple Online Store for Education button and it will take you to product selection...happy shopping!

sovalon,

Your post is soliciting fraud], and your lame attempt to defend it sucks.

We do not provide our Hot Deals forum for this purpose. Another such post will be your last on our forums.

How about not abusing the system and screwing it over for the students who actually need the discounts?

Students can still get the discount...and why exactly do stupids *need* an mp3 and video player for class? 😉

Recording lectures. Can also be used to listen to personal development material from class to class.

Apple is being nice letting students have a discount, if regular users start abusing it then they may be inclined to take it away, or make the process more difficult for the people who actually qualify.

Even the students are limited to how many they may purchase with the discount. (per academic year)

I'm also wondering about students who need a $270 device for listening to MP3s.

As for recording lectures... it's a wonder that Feynman and Bardeen and Hawking and Heisenberg and all those guys got through school without a friggen' iPod! I guess they were taking notes... or maybe they spent their money on a Victrola or a tape recorder or whatever was comtemporary to their time.

I remember when the same argument was made about calculators in the class room...though I agree with you. If Ipod has no mic, then ??? Maybe some schools are recording class lectures and making them available on the school website?

Im actually reading Feynman's book right now. "What Do YOU Care What Other People Think", its actually pretty good.

I dont think the student discount is implying that it is for school purposes.

Think they just know that students don't have that much money and could use discounts on things.

Its funny how there are discounts on mp3 and video players, but yet we get raped with the books.

Give me student discounts on textbooks not friggin trendy ipods

Well I agree with some of you and disagree with some of you. This is a HOT DEALS section. Being that Apple products hardly ever go on sale, namely Ipods, this is a great deal.

About the students thing, and being a former student myself, this is an awesome deal. But if Apple did not offer this discount, would I go into a rage? No, just have to pay $30 more. There is little to no mark up on the Ipods, I used to work at BBY and there was never an employee discount on these. And another example, the Dell home coupons. Anandtech don't allow posting of coupon codes from Dell, but they are redily available. Wouldn't you be more worried about a price increase from the US largest computer corporation all around, or about a student discount, that is supposed to be taken advantage of by only students? I think that some people have their priorites messed up because getting rid of coupon codes and a price increase would piss me off a lot more than losing a $30 student discount, and I think that a lot of students would probably feel the same. Students can't take their Ipod to class and type a paper, no but they can take a Dell laptop to class and type a paper or take notes.

Please, would you care to enlighten us on where in the terms and conditions it says 'Former' students are eligible for the discounts?
