I used DVD Decrypter to rip my DVDs to a folder on the HD, then HandBrake to convert using the standard available presets.

What doesn't work right in Handbrake for you?

Yea, I don't believe that Handbrake will break the DVD encryption so you will need to use a program like DVD Decrypter to extract the VOB's and then encode with the iPod setting in Handbrake.

Try DVD43 (free) to break decryption on-the-fly, then couple that with Handbrake to encode the movie to iPod format.

When it comes to breaking DVD encryption, the only serious option is AnyDVD (not free). It's second to none. Once decrypted, run it through Handbrake on the iPod (or Universal) preset and you're good to go.

It runs, but never finishes.... it keeps "converting" forever and ever....

Sure its just not working, depending on your system it can take a while.

Another couple of options are Viedora which is free but can be flaky in Vista 64 and AVS video converter, not free but works extremely well.

For whatever reason it will decrypt on the Mac, but not in Windows.
