Ipod touch with spotty wifi

I can't seem to keep my Ipod touch connected to my wifi.
I have a linksys a/g wireless router and it is not encrypted, but my touch cannot stay connected especially with any updates for apps, particularly the medical database epocrates.

Any suggestions.
