First off, I am coming from a creative mp3/video player so i am still learning the apple ways.

I have my itouch 32g jailbroken, still reading on what that means. I am finding itunes to be a giant pain in my ass since i have two computers with music and video that I want to put on here. I just authorized both computers today, so maybe that might fix the issue where it wont let me add music from two different computers.

How are you guys adding your music to your i touches? How are you creating and then how are you adding videos to your ipod? I refuse to believe that the only easy way is to purchase shows from itunes.

I am in the middle of converting a .mpg (43 min long) in itunes and its taking over two hours and still not done. Is there an easy way to do this?

Thanks for any thoughts/ideas/shortcuts.

I was unable to use anapod, it wouldnt connect with the itouch, something about disk use mode. Ephod couldnt see it either.....

To sync from two separate computers, you need to change a setting to "manually manage music" that allows you to drag and drop from each computer in itunes.

As far as converting videos, I have never actually done it, but there are several programs both free and pay that will do it for you. 2 hours on your system seems like a long time for a file that size, it might just be Quicktime and it's terrible Windows port.

Now that i have already synced music in the library, I am not seeing an option right now to manually manage music, i remember seeing that when i first connected it. Thanks for the thoughts and please forgive the itunes newbness.

What is there to unlock in an iPod?

You can jailbreak a touch the same way as phone to allow the use of 3rd party apps. Granted you wont be able to use the ones related to telecommunications, but the others you can.

Did you get this working?

Configure iPod or iPhone for manual management:

If you have iTunes 7* or later follow these instructions.

1. Connect iPod or iPhone to your computer.
2. Open iTunes.
3. Select iPod or iPhone in the Devices list.
4. Click the Summary tab and select "Manually manage music and videos."
5. Click Apply.
6. When manual management is enabled, you can still sync some content automatically. Select any content tab such as Video to enable automatic syncing for that type of content.

Use handbrake to convert dvds to divx or other formats, you can also convert videos very easily and free with Videora Ipod/Iphone video converter. Handles the touch (aka iphone to the software since its the same res/screen) and the ipod video and nano. It also auto adds the files to itunes for you.

You have to look at a full page of ads each time the software loads but it works really really good. People think i actually bought the movies through itunes or rented them, quality is that good.
