iPod Touch - Screen Is Bad?

Hi everyone. I've been thinking of buying an iPod Touch, but is a bit hesitant after reading the issue about the screen. Does anyone have it? If so, how bad is the screen? I'm not rich, so $400 is a fair amount of money to me...would you suggest I wait, until the issue is resolved? Or maybe wait for 2nd generation? Or play the luck game? Thanks.

I think what you read were old reviews/complaints. I've used several of my friend's Touches, and they have worked perfectly. Never once have they complained about the screen deteriorating or fading in use. However, they purchased them at Christmas time and later so they could of had the revamped version.

I know Apple had a few bad ones when they first started production, but from what I remember, they replaced them and fixed the manufacturing problem. I'd suggest get one and purchase it directly from Apple so you can get their support whenever/if you ever come to a problem.

There was some issue with a coating or something that wasn't applied to a batch touches partially because they were rushed through production to be availible for launch. (I think)
