im trying to sort through this whole ipod touch/iphone thing. im leaning towards an 8gig touch. i realize files (photos, music, video and apps) are mostly added through itunes on pc. my question is: can these files also be removed to free up space?

From the Touch itself, without a PC you can:
You can remove apps and the space is freed up.
Somehow at various times I've been able to delete movies when I've finished watching them. But I've not been able to do this every time.

From a PC, you can add and remove anything you want. When you plug in the Touch, it comes up with special menu and you can select or unselect checkboxes for everything (music, apps, photos, movies, etc) and then it synchronizes and space is used based on what you selected.

To delete videos on the iPod Touch itself, at the video list screen, just slide from left to right on the video title you wish to delete, and a red delete button will appear.

That's great! I guess I'd been doing it by accident before. Thank you, PowerRanger!
